We maintain a GIS/Mapping lab in a 1200 square foot office building in Smithfield, Utah, USA.
Some of the hardware and
software we use include:
-
ARC/INFO GIS Program
-
ARC/VIEW GIS Program
-
ERDAS Imagine and Ortho Base Programs
-
AP190 Analytical Stereo Plotter (Carto Instruments): This instrument
is used to map from standard (9X9 inch) aerial photos. Photos are
mounted on glass plates and "oriented". Photos can be viewed
at up to 15X scale in stereo. Mapping is conducted with a 30 micron
dot in the center of the magnified view. Mapping is compiled as
digital files that can be dumped to the GIS for manipulation, plotting and
analyses. Digital mapping is ortho-rectified to minimize distortion
inherent to stereo aerial photos.
