Extensive mapping, characterization and modeling have served as templates for
restoration and landscape design. We design landscapes that work.
-
Restoration
plan, Convict Creek bypass reach, Mono County, California. 1995. Prepared a
plan to restore a 765 foot reach of Convict Creek that was impacted by
diversions. Conducted for Los
Angeles Department of Water and Power, Bishop, CA.
-
Wetland
mitigation plan, Kanaka, Empire and Boulder hydroelectric project areas, Idaho.
1992. Prepared mitigation
plans to compensate for about 30 acres of wetland.
Conducted for Don Chapman Consultants, Boise, ID
-
Wetland
mitigation design, Salt Lake City Airport expansion project. 1991. Designed
250 acres of wetland as mitigation for expansion impacts. Wetland types included standing water, marsh, saline wet
meadow and playa. Wetlands will be
constructed near the east shore of the Great Salt Lake.
Conducted for the Salt Lake City Airport Authority.
-
Restoration
plan, Anderson Ranch Borrow Site, Idaho. 1991.
Prepared a reclamation plan to enhance habitat values of a 500 acre
gravel pit in southern Idaho. HEC modeling
was used to predict runoff yield and areas of potential wetland habitat for
several alternative designs. Reclamation achieved creation of wetland
habitat and enhanced water quality discharge to the Boise River.
Conducted
for Mountain Home Ranger District, Boise National Forest.
-
Wetlands
mitigation plan, Auger Falls hydroelectric project, Snake River Canyon, Idaho.
1991. Prepared a design plan
for creating 28 acres of wetlands, including deciduous forest, shrub, marsh and
emergent habitats. Conducted for Cogeneration Inc.; Salt Lake City, UT.
-
Evaluation
of stream/riparian restoration in the Southwest.
1990.
Evaluated 25 sites in AZ
and NM where the Forest Service has applied restoration practices.
Assisted in preparation of a report documenting the approach and results
of the evaluation. Conducted for
Biosystems Analysis Inc.; Tiburon, CA.
-
Mitigation
through stream/riparian restoration. 1987.
Synthesized information useful for evaluating proposals to restore
stream/riparian ecosystems in the Intermountain Region. Conducted for EPA;
Portland, OR.
-
Creation
of fish and riparian habitats, Birch Creek
Hydroelectric Facility, Clark County, Idaho. 1987.
Designed and supervised construction of riparian habitat along about
9,000 feet of channel; planted vegetation; monitoring is continuing.
Conducted for Sorenson Engineering; Idaho Falls, ID.
-
Establishment
of wetland habitat in Cedar Draw, Twin Falls County, Idaho. 1987.
Designed and constructed a wetland as mitigation for that disturbed by
construction of a hydro-power facility near the Snake River.
Conducted for Ecosystems Research Institute; Logan, UT
-
Reclamation
plan for the Kemmerer Coal Mine, Wyoming.
1984. Designed
landforms to maximize water yield from snow-pack to a lacustrine subsystem
while maintaining acceptable levels of stability and productivity in the
terrestrial subsystem. Conducted
for Ecosystems Research Institute; Logan, UT.
